Evaluation 4: How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages

Research and Planning: (Blogger, Prezi, Excel, Internet, Word)

• Blogger was used for my second year again to keep a track of my teaser trailer, poster and magazine. Comparing to last year i knew straight away what i had to do on blogger so this year i have created more posts and extended the post with the relevant information needed. 

• Prezi was used to find out my target audience. Again i used    this last year and i found it useful as it was quick and easy to use and gave a clear indication of what audience it was targeted audience

Excel was used for my publication plan so i got myself sorted and knew what i was doing for my teaser trailer, magazine and poster. Again this was another software that was used last year so i understood straight away what was needed.

I used Word for questionnaires and for audience feedback for my magazine, poster and teaser trailer. This was easy to use and was able to get the right information across to get the right feedback

The internet was used to gather most of my information on magazines, trailers and posters. this helped me decide my actual products.

Construction ( SLR Camera's, Sony Camera's, Mini-DV Camcorders, iMovie, Garage Band, iShowU, Photoshop)


Imovie is a new software that was introduced to me this year. This was where we made our teaser trailer by adding sound, doing the cinematography and also the mise en scene if needed. this took a little bit longer as it was new to us and took a bit of time to get used to.

The camcorder used was for the whole footage for our trailer. This was now to us this year but using a camcorder before it didnt really take any time off our schedule.

 The SLR camera was used last year  so there was a good understanding and grew in confidence every time i used it. I used the camera to take photos for my Magazine and Poster.

GarageBand was also a new software that was used For the sound to be made. This had to be made ourselves and would have to be produced on garageband and making our own sound is difficult

Ishowu has been used for showing the moderator how certain things have been done and use it for my evaluation. this has been used before so it wasn't to bad to work 

Photoshop has been the main software used for my poster and magazine cover. you can edit, put images on and basically do anything you want to get the cover you want. this was still difficult to handle at first even though it was used last year as a lot more techniques had to be involved but was much easier knowing your way around the software

Evaluation 3: What have you learned from your audience feedback

Questionnaires - These were handed out to my class and focused more on the genre Action and what they thought made a film/trailer good. This helped me to think more about what ideas I could come up with.

Proposals - I had 3 proposols but all had either 2 worlds or 2 groups of people fighting. we chose the two worlds fighting for the sun for something different. everybody we new had a horror trailer and we thought to be more adventureous and have an action trailer.

Name Ideas - I got this name from my audience feedback. Two Worlds: The Battle For the Sun. It was basic but very effective at it just basically says what its about.

Tagline Ideas - I had two strong ideas for the tagline for my film for me to use on the poster I was making. I made a questionnaire for my class for them to tick their favorite and Made by you, for you  won by a distance which was my original favorite so I was very pleased.

Magazine Name - I only really had one really strong magazine name. This was Film 2.0. i got this from my first year of studying this course from Media.2.0. The magazine is all about technology and peoples own films being made and that is how i got the name.

Teacher Feedback - This was really helpful throughout the whole time.

Trailer Feedback - The feedback from the class did give me confidence as I had positive feedback about the story line and parts of the trailer. They also gave me feedback constructive advice that could be changed and made better which helped me a lot

Poster and Magazine Feedback - this gave me a great insight by my fellow students and gave me advice on what needed tweeking and what was well produced

Evaluation 2: How effective is the combination of your main product and in ancillary

Representation of characters

I have used synergy for the underground people because they are used all throughout my products. This shows that they are the most important people trying to get the suns energy. The audience have a choice though whether to be against the underground people or they support them as it could go either way.

Font Of Text

The Font of the text is used for the magazine, the poster and the teaser trailer due to the fantasy look. This is so that the audience know that it is the same film and is easier to to remember.

Evaluation 1: In What ways does your media products use, develop and challenge forms and conventions ofreal media products?

Film Poster

Use : For my film poster I used ther conventions from the film Gladiator. As you will be able to see on my poster there are two armies going towards each other battling. Also the cinematography used relates to gladiator with the armour. I used Steel Tongues as most film posters do to show who has made the film and also i have put the website of the film also at the bottom of the page to get more feedback and the audience can find out more information about the film

Develop: I used the same as two groups going to battle but I changed mine so you dont know who is winning or it would spoil the movie. I just had a plain black background to emphasize the sun which is also in the background and to make the two groups to stand out as they are the most important thing in the film.

Challenge: The storyline that I used is something unusual but effective as i dont think that anybody has used this idea. yes people have used two worlds which could be classed as two worlds like the film The One, But battling for the sun is unique. I changed my poster to landscape to make the image larger and is easier to see what is happening. i also stick the sun inbetween the groups to show what they are fighting for, but you can still tell that they are going to battle.

Film Magazine

Use: The Masthead and the Subtitles were influenced by other film magazines such as The Empire and Total Film to convert it into a similar layout. I tried to keep the colours to a maximum of 3 which is used by most magazines. The main image is right in the middle of the magazine to emphasize the importance of the film. The Main image is the same as mine as it looks effective. I also used Andrew Sarris theory as elements can be seen and can tell what type of film it is from elements with my armour

Develop:  Where at the bottom of the page there are sometimes pages that are used for top ten films of 2012 for example, i used the same layout but changed the information to 32 pages of your own work , meaning the audiences work that has been produced. I changed the actors position to look more like they are fighting the the person in the centre looks like he is in control.

Challenge: I changed the perspective of looking at somebody elses film and changed it to looking at your own film trailers and to try and get the audience involved instead of just reading the magazine. 

Teaser trailer 

 Use: I used the Toderovs theory and followed the conventions of a teaser trailer. It starts off with an equilibrium and then goes into a disruption when the underground people find the warning light of no energy left. Peaks are then found when they are training to get ready for battle and then there is a climax where both groups come together to fight for the sun. The music that we used was similar to all action films.

Develop: Using films such as Gladiator, The One and Transformers, I put it together and created a film with all these films as guidlines. The Gladiator was used for the fighting and the armour, The One was used for the transporting between the two worlds and the Transformers for wanting something off planet earth. This was developed by putting them all together and using different codes and conventions to do this.

Challenge: I went against the Carol Clover theory of having a final girl as it just didnt go with the production of the teaser trailer. As the the underground people are still stuck inthe 19th and 20th century Men are only suitalbe to fight and Women stay at home to look after the children. This is not sexist by the way its just the way it was back then. I also challenged the Laura Mulvey theory as there was no real male gaze in my trailer and was all men apart from

Gold, it appears, is not the easiest of colours to produce on Facebook, but is a colour that would really make or break the quality of my teaser trailer, magazine and poster, in my opinion.
